We’re back in Dubai after a fantastic week in Jordan! I planned on posting more during our stay there, but unfortunately the wifi wouldn’t cooperate :)
It’s safe to say we both fell in love with Jordan: the culture, the food, (most of) the people, the history..etc! Compared to Dubai it is such a ‘real’ country. You feel the history everywhere you go, you see the culture, you notice the hospitality and you also see the poverty and the hard (bedouin) lives people live.
And yes, I took far too many pictures to post on this blog, so I’ve decided to spend a few posts on our trip and post some more Jordan photography later..
…So after our relaxing stay at the Dead Sea (See Jordan (1)), we took the King’s Highway down to Petra. This road really lives up to it’s name: wow! First you drive through Wadi Mujib: a canyon that takes your breath away. We stopped at a view point at one side of the Wadi, then drove through it and had lunch at a little place on the other side. By the way: the food was delicious and the people who owned the place were so nice! (Although the younger one was a bit too nice according to Frank: “You mustn’t eat sweets, you are already so sweet” ;))
..Then we passed by Karak Castle: also a real beauty!
…At the end of the day we arrived at our hotel in Petra and decided to go to ‘Petra by night’. This means that Petra is lit with over 1500 candles :). And on this point we disagreed with our Lonely Planet: we think it’s a must see!
More on Petra in my next Jordan post! Hope you like the pictures so far! :)
