Time for our third and final Jordan post! (I will post some Photography posts with a lot of Jordan pictures in it though..:))
Petra! We had seen Petra by night and now it was time for Petra by day! First you walk through the Siq, which is already beautiful in itself. Then, after turning down 3000 horse rides (argh!), you arrive at the end of the Siq and see The Treasury. Honestly: it was just breathtaking! So much beauty, so much history! And then you find out there is sooo much more to see!
The first day we just walked around and tried to take it all in. The second day we hiked to the High Place of Sacrifice, which gives you a beautiful view of the whole area. And believe me: it is so big! You really need two days at least to see most of it. From the High Place of Sacrifice we followed a different route down. All in all it took us about 4 or 5 hours in total and it was definitely worth it!
After saying goodbye to Petra (I was very sad, bye bye beauty, history and culture! :'(), we drove to the Red Sea. There we had another day of relaxing. The last day we drove all the way up to Amman again and from there to Jerash. But just as we wanted to enter the archeological site, it stared raining and lightning and thundering….so no Roman history for us! Just some very very good Jordan food :) Since it wouldn’t stop raining, we decided to drive back to the airport.
